The best example I could ever come up with in respect to global popular culture occurred last Thursday. This post will take a bit of an ethnographical twist as I relate my personal experience with this subject. After rugby practice, I was parched so I went into the new gas station by the Davidson traffic circles, hereafter referred to as RushCo. There was a variety of choices of beverages but the one that stuck out to me was the bottle of Horchata!
Horchata is a sweet drink that is basically rice milk with cinnamon. It exists in some form or another in most “Authentic Mexican” restaurants, however, I was shocked that this popular drink in the Latino community found its way to Davidson, North Carolina!
